What About These Majestic's?

Loading...

What I was really after was the two snare stands and throne that came with these drums...Majestic DeLuxe

They're in decent shape, 5 ply shells, off-set lugs, and all original. Missing one original hoop with inlay and both rack tom bottom rims. Double tom mount rail in place, but it looks as if someone added a center post mount. Duh...

I don't know if it was common to have matching sized rack toms, but this kit has two identical 12x8 toms, which I happened to like.

If anyone knows the where about of the floor tom, message me please.

A few general question:

-date

-Tama or Pearl

-wrap name

-playability

-was that some kind of cymbal mount on the bass

I should mention the camera flash makes this wrap look great, but to the naked eye, it's really dull/hazy. Is there anything special that will bring the shine back?

I believe that color is called Blue Shimmer. That cymbal arm off the BD is very difficult to find, as might be a FT as well.

Made by Star.

See this thread regarding polishing the wrap.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

I have a couple of those hoops off of a junk drum.

I think they look all right on a cheap drum. Utilitarian.

Thanks for the link to polishing the wrap. Good info for sure...

So, what should I do with the added center post mount? Leave it be, or remove it and try to cap the hole?

Hello,

The finish was called 'Silky Blue' at Star.

'Blue shimmer' was the name at Premier drums (same era).

You can find a complete genuine cymbal arm here:

http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=47550

Whether or not leave the additional centre tom holder: it may be difficult to close the holes with the original finish afterwards, if you take the part away.

You can take some pieces of the Silky blue from under the bass drum lugs, but the hole will need some/ many of such small pieces, so it'll be a puzzle ...

Ralf

NB: I do like the hoops with the small dots in the chrome.

Hey, nice looking wrap! I really like this odd-ball stuff.

Now, not to pop any bubbles... but to find a matching floor tom... well it's akin to finding a needle in a haystack. Or maybe worse...

Yeah, I'm not holding my breathe on the floor tom or cymbal arm any time soon, but it does happen...I once had a wood Fantasia wrapped snare fall into my lap at the right time. Never would have guessed...

So what about these matching sizes of the rack toms? Seems odd, unless you could order the kit as you liked. I happen to like the look of uniform toms across the bass drum like Kieth Moon used to do. He had at least three 13x9's at one time, maybe the Pictures Of Lily kit...

And if I were to guess, I think this original floor tom would have been a 14x14...not sure if the lugs would be off set as well, but would hope.

Yes, maybe your kit came originally that way. And as you stated: Premier had done that in a certain time period as well.
