set of vintage Canadian zildjian cymbols

Loading...

I have 13" hi hats 16" crash 20 " ride with sizzle holes. Zildjian stamps say

turpish and made in canada, i think they are mis stamped, and if so how much are they worth? They are in mint condition and have been professionally polished on the top side.

While an anomaly in the States, they're quite common in Canada (obviously!) They were made in Zildjian's Canadian plant in Meductic NB, where Bob Zildjian started Sabian c1980.

Basically, they're just Zildjians. I'd say you can expect at least:

$100 for the hats

$90 for the crash

$110 for the ride

And from the right buyer/s, you can add up to 25% to that. Unfortunately, they're not quite vintage enough to command higher prices.

turpish?

There are

MADE IN U.S.A.

MADE IN CANADA

and ones which say no country at all. There is no evidence that saying MADE IN CANADA or saying no country of origin adds value. Even accidental double stampings and such don't appear to make cymbals more valuable. These aren't the cymbal equivalent of $100,000 rare postage stamps.

Oh, and "professional polishing" generally removes value rather than adding it, although the effect is small in most cases. Think antiques roadshow: "That was a $10,000 silver vase until you polished it shiny with a brillo pad. Now it is a $1200 silver vase."

Having vintage cymbals "professionally polished" is not really a good idea. The polishing probably removed 40 years of lovely patina, and if any metal was taken off in the process, collectors will probably not want to touch them. Can you describe how they were polished?

Personally, I like the "made in Canada" Z's, but just because they're kinda uncommon. Like all A's, some are better than others........marko

If they are Canadian K's, they are quite desireable.
