Tosco Originals

Hey guys, I just thought I'd show these things off. They're Tosco Hi Hats from the 70's? I guess. I believe these are the original ones before Robert Zildjian bought the company and made them Sabians. They sound great! Does anybody out there play a pair o these hi hats? I really like them.

If I could I'd let all of you play them, but we can't do that, so please enjoy some photos instead.

Very cool. Yes, I believe that was the logo from before Sabian, although I believe the "Sabian B20" line were the same or similar. I have been told that there are some with the Sabian B20 ink on them that have a Tosco engraving. Some also have both engravings. Kind of sad that they became lesser cymbals after that. Not horrible, but not the same.

Hellooo!

Strangely I picked up an identical looking pair (stamps and all) about a month ago...which are also very nice but have just been eclipsed by some UFIP Class Heavy 14s for a blues project...but the Toscos are keepers!

Good stuff! Thanks for sharing. Rob

Great stuff Rob, I use these hats in the studio and they record really well. With Hi Hats I really like light, thin hats that are on the mellow side and don't overpower. These are kind of in the middle in that they're definitely mellow, but they have a bit of a bite to them. Played open don't wash over everything with a big loud hiss making them good for recording. Love these hats! :)

Glad you found a great pair!

Nice! If the ride cymbal is the same bronze and the same type of roto-cast cymbal as the hi hats then it should be a nice cymbal. Very musical. Best of luck. :)

Well if it tempts you, go for it.

On reflection I think I need to slow down abit and enjoy not only my recently acquired vintage UFIP Solid Ride 88 but also my even more recent Ufip Class 22" Ride!...
