Can anyone help me identify my new kit

Loading...

Hi, my names Chris and i have just aquired what i believe to be a vintage rogers kit.

I would be very interested to know if anyone could shed some light on a year and a model for the kit,its got all the hardware, no cymbals, no snare, 8 piece. I'm not sure if it is an XP8, but i guess it is from around that era. How would i tell if it is an XP8? There is a serial number on each badge D712402 and D714142 for example. All it says other than that is Rogers Drums USA. I've stuck some pictures on and look forward to hearing what everyone thinks, cheers

mid-70's Rogers "Big R"

Supreme hi-hat

Swivomatic bass pedal

Are the interiors clear maple or gray painted? If they are clear and don't have reinforcement rings, then they are likely XP-8s.

[COLOR="DarkOrange"]...That's not a bad acquisition there, Chris. Yeah, just look inside the shells and that would tell you which kind of shells and therefore we can narrow the year much more easily. Also, what is the color of the wraps (hard to tell since your pics are washed orange).

[COLOR="DarkRed"]Then those are 3-ply maple shells.....sort of the last of the classic Rogers shells, IMHO, before they switched to the XP8's....

Vintage 1977-78 based upon the D71 serials...Ploughman can correct me if I am off, but according to ROF it sits in around there...
