youre gonna love that kit. ive got two 17/12/14 kits. both have tenor toms as the bass drum. they are mixed wfl and 60's ludwigs. one is maple exterior and the other is mahogany exterior. I originally had a 14x14 with one of the kits. I later decided I liked 10x14 with them better. my maple kit has calf heads on several of the drums as well. took me forever to find a set of 17" hoops. I robbed the solid maple hoops off my mahogany drum to go on my maple kit. took me a couple years but I found a set of 17 hoops cut for inlays to go with the mahogany kit. here is some inspiration for you. i'll keep my eyes open for some hoops for you.

Thanks for the info Mike. Your kit looks really great. I have two 17 x 12 right now. One is gold sparkle and the other is WMP. Both drums could use new wrap and I'm thinking green sparkle is the way I will go on this kit.

On your 14 x 10 did you have any problems with the legs being too short?

those are two great colors to have. did you by any chance get the wmp that was on ebay recently? It was a wfl model. I thought long and hard about it since I already have a wmp clubdate kit and could substitute the bass drum. I thought about wrapping my mahogany kit for a while and was considering gold sparkle. small world.

clubdate legs can be hard to find at times as you probably know. I could not find any when I needed them and in nickel too. I got a set from a forum member where someone had made some from 3/8 steel stock. so that's whats on my maple kit you see. they are longer than normal. I think the regular ones might work though. ive got the 10x14 on the other kit sitting in a cutdown snare stand kinda like a floor tom cradle.

green sparkle would be killer.

I picked both of mine up in a large purchase recently. After seeing yours I'm even more excited about getting going on mine.

I don't use a riser or anything for mine. the beater hits above center but sounds great. if I was doing a rewrap, i'd probably go ahead and mount the proper hardware on it. I had the stuff, so I used hoop mounted tom mount,leg mounts and cymbal holder.

It ended up being one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Can't get enough of wood finishes. Is there a thread about the mahogany kit?

Randy, looking forward to your progress. Since you guys both have two of these, any chance of some pics of a double 17" bass drum setup?...two 12s on a stand in the middle, 14s on either side...?
