Hello - can anyone help me with details (year, value, construction) of this old Revelle kit? I'm not much of a vintage guy, but that could change :) I understand these are budget Pearl/Star drums. I like the look of the lugs!
Help needed with old Revelle kit
Hmmm...my images are smaller than expected. Working on this!
Let's try these images...
Hello, sir!
Judging form the lugs ( shape and staggered ) and badge, I'd say it's a Star kit. Perhaps early seventies. As for value, I'm the last one to ask. If you like the kit and can afford it, just do it! I know with good heads and tuning, you won't be disappointed.
Brian
Thank you, Brian - I've now done a bit of research and agree they're Star - late 60s or early 70s. They're being offered for $300 and include a CB-700 snare, some Sabian XS20 cymbals, pedals, stands, etc. I figure I could sell everything but the drums for around the asking price and get the drums for free. Might be a fun project, and the price seems reasonable.
I've had limited experience with Japanese drums, but I'll agree with you on the Star brand - and those seem to be in very good shape for their age. The wrap especially looks cool.
Judging from what the others have said on occasion, $300 sounds fair for an all-original well-preserved kit.
Alex
Price is fair, because it looks like in very good state!
For more infos you could try this:-)

Thanks, guys - I took the plunge yesterday afternoon. The kit is all-original and in very good shape. I'll post photos after I get it cleaned up. One feature that surprised me: it has the funkiest little tom mount I have seen in a while. See photos - drum technology has come a long way!
To me, the best thing about them is the wrap: simply amazing :) I think someone on the forum wanted to re-make this kind of wrap, using computer imaging technology. It might turn out to be very useful...
Once again, really cool drums :)
Alex
Those tom holders on the bass drum with the rail consolette are the version prior to the 'Fre'o'matic' double tom holder type. Star changed to the newer version in the last days of Star, before they became Tama.
Great score!
Cheers, Ralf
