1972 Premier B303 value?

Loading...

Hey guys, I'm after a bit of advice if possible.

I own a 1973 (not 1972 as it states in the title sorry!) Premier B303 kit in Polychromatic red. It's got its original kick, snare stand, cymbal stand and tom brace, and a 1972-73 Premier Hi-Fi snare with a brushed chrome finish, which I'm told is quite rare.

Its condition is as good as can be expected for its age with no restoration.

I've always wondered how much this kit would be worth..? Could someone give me a bit of an estimate of its market value?

Sorry I don't have any photos as it's stacked-and-packed at the moment, but I have found this image from the 1973 Premier catalogue.

Any info would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance! :)

Generally speaking, those kits go for anything from 200-650 pounds, depending on the condition of the kit, the configuration and the wrap. I've included a link from e-bay below, just as an example. The snare itself is definitely worth 150-200 pounds, so you can take it from there.

I've gotta start somewhere, Wayne, so I thought I'd try here. After all, with a banner that says "ask a question, get an answer", I thought it seemed as good a place as any.

And thanks for your help, Cyllocke; I appreciate it!

Fair enough too! When did this forum start knocking back newbies with an honest question? Sheesh.

Anyway - the catalogue you posted is the picture of my first new drum kit - the Premier B303 in red. That was a dream kit. I loved it. Sold it for a Rogers kit and now I want it back!

Good luck Makker and drop back again (with pics)

Thanks Troutstudio! Yeah it's a great kit: I bought it off an old drummer friend for $500 about 10 years ago. He actually hit me up a couple years later asking if I still used it because he missed it so much he wanted to buy it back off me haha. I politely declined! :D

I'll post some pics of the kit after the weekend.

So I've done a fair bit of digging around and I've discovered my kit is actually a 1973 Kenny Clare B204 Resonator with a rare two-tom configuration. Crazy to think that I only paid $500 for this kit a few years ago!

nice. I can see it still has the resonator lining in the bass drum which is cool, are they present in the other drums? I've never had a resonator kit and I wonder how difficult it is to remove the liners to get to the lug screws. The snare throw looks to be a replacement but the original hi-fi throw can be a bit of a weakness. Probably why it was swapped out.

That's a lovely kit. They are grossly undervalued but superb drums.
