Royal star snare drum (pre tama) early 70's

Loading...

Here is one of my snare drums which i bought recently with a Royal Star pre tama drum kit chrome steel covered. I only have the snare pics as the kit is still being restored. The snare is chrome over steel round royal star badge, eight lugs and a very stylish strainer and butt. It has a great sound, has cleaned up pretty well, could do with new drum heads.......sean

That is BEAUTIFUL!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

The snare head needs replacing but apart from that it looks like no one has played the drum. Thanks for your comments.......sean

Thanks for your comments the drum is 5 x 14 heavy and sounds great. Maybe i should put a sound file on you tube, it certainly cuts through........sean

TAMA's steel snares were among the best, especially with diecast hoops!

Never play it the same way once.

Hey guys - do these Star made steel shell snares sound / perform any different from the 10 lug Pearl made snares (like this Majestic)?

Not sure difference in sound. The star snare drum is very heavy and loud also very fine and jazzy if needed. I have just bought another royal star pre tama snare drum 10 lugs just waiting on delivery.
