Cymbal ID

Looking for some expert help in identifying these cymbals would also like to know what they are worth in today's market.

First is an 18" Zildjian K Istanbul, what I believe to be a crash/ride, it has four rivets in it that I think were factory drilled.

Second is a pair of 14" Zildjian K Istanbul hats.

All are in good shape no keyholes, cracks the 18 has a flee bit or two but nothing major. I'd like to know when these were made and what they are worth? Can supply weights if it would help.

I think we're all waiting for Drumaholic to show up and confirm those are Intermediate Stamp (1959 - 1966). But I'm no expert. I just have Drumaholic's (aka Bill Hartrick) two page timeline of 2013 which appears in Rob Cook's The Gretsch Drum Book, pp 250-251.

In the meantime, weights would indeed help pin down the expected price range. As far as I know the expected price of the 18" would be rather different depending on whether it weighs 1200g or 1600g. With the price advantage to the 1200g. Thin is in.

Your're getting old buddy, you need new glasses. Violin Look closer. The first one on the left appears to be an Intermediate as you indicated, but the second one is very much a New stamp.

It's true. I didn't enlarge it, and I do need new reading glasses. I've been holding back trying to save a bit more of my pension to buy cymbals. :2Cents: New Stamp on the right.

Is that an Older New Stamp (1967-72), or a Newer New Stamp (1972-77)? Bill's definition actually sounds like the situation isn't always clear cut:

This type is just like the older new stamp, but more often with this type there is more space between the Arabic script and the K Zildjian & Co.

But based on just a few I've seen I'll guess Older. Like me. ;)

Based on the spacing I believe its the "older" New stamp. I own two examples of what would be the newer New stamp. There is much more space between the script and the K Zildjian .But... I believe Bill may have amended things a bit with regards to the New stamps. Not sure though.

Here are the weights on these. The 18" weighs 1460gr with the rivets. The hats weigh 928 and 938gr. Still looking for a value on these.

Those are desirable weights, as far as I know.

Bill (Drumaholic) can probably just tell you the expected price range off the top of his head. So can Mark (BosLover). Me? I have to collect data and analyze it, and then look up the results I've stored. I'm in the very early stages of collecting data but so far the eBay completed auction data suggest:

The 14" Hi hats - $450-$1200 median $580 (we use the median because the distribution is skewed by one $1200 auction of a New Stamp pair 724g/844g in excellent condition). The expected range is more like $450 - $750

The 18": Expected range $500 - $750

But treat these are preliminary until those who know just by glancing at them tell us what they believe.

The expected range is set so that 80% of the time the price will fall into the expected range. The other 20% of the time it can be lower or higher. Prices are quite variable so it always pays to remember that the very same cymbal might get $100 more or $100 less depending on the individual day, the reputation of the seller, the quality of the ad (as in good pictures, good sound files). Expected prices also differ depending on what Country you are selling in, and off eBay sales are different.
