Looking to swap Slingerland gear

Loading...

I have a 1962 Slingerland kit in Champage sparkle. In great nick. 20", 16" & 13". I am looking to trade the 20" BD & 16" FT for equivalent 18" BD & 14" FT, in same wrap & vintage. Anyone wanting to trade up in size on those two drums? WE can do a straight swap or amicable agreement.

Wow....well, for starters, I wouldn't want to split up that kit if its all original.

Second, I don't think you would even come close to an even trade if someone even wanted to consider making it. The 18 kick and 14 FT are both significantly rarer than the drums you are offering.

Third, the 13" tom might not be the best size next to a 14". Not saying it can't be done and drums tuned to sound good....just won't look as good as a 12 for example.

So maybe you know all that and you've considered it and there's steam coming out your ears right now after reading what I've posted. If so, my apologies.

Here's what I would do if I was in your situation. Keep my eye out for an orphan 18" FT shell (Slingy prefered but any make with re-rings) Recover in a wrap similar to your own. Keep my eye out for a 14" marching snare (Slingy preferred but any make with re-rings). Plug any holes, re-wrap. Keep my eye out for original hardware (or go repro). Get some hoops. There, now you have your bop kit and still have your original kit for less than you would have to pay in a trade.

Just my opinion FWIW. Good luck.

Yeah...I am afraid I have to agree. Just an 18" Slingy Bass drum (rare to begin with) in an ORIGINAL champagne finish ( rare x5)...would fetch about $400 all by itself...

The 14 would be worth about $250-300...so it just wouldn't be much of an appetizing trade.

I would also urge you not to split up a factory set of Slingy Champagnes.

Even in your sizes, it's a relatively rare kit....

While we're dreaming, I'd like to know if anyone will take my 2009 Subaru Legacy in even trade for the same year Infiniti G37 coupe.

I'll pay freight for both...

I believe there are two Slingerland 14 floor toms in Champagne on E Bay right now [5/15]. There's also a 14 inch marching drum shell but the 50 buck BIN is a bit high. Good luck.

Well heck, if we're going here, I'd gladly swap a 13/16/22 61' Blue Pearl Slingy I'm not quite finished restoring for a 12/14/18 of similar age and condition. :D

Brian,

I am sincerely interested. I've PM'd you with no response. I listed a jazz size setup for trade. Let me know one way or the other. I'm either going to continue getting supplies/parts or box it up. Thanks.

Those are still available. That wasn't the trade offer, but the church still has the kit. I've really sat on that one...sorry. I checked them out...again. They are the 5 ply shells. 24 bass, 18 floor, 6,8,10,12,16 cutaways. They are in rough shape...but still available. I'll try and remember to snap some pics. Just keep forgetting to bring a camera to church. Odd as that sounds. I'll try and remember for tomorrow.
