Ii would appear that the first generation New Beats had just an ink stamp on top of the top cymbal and one on the bottom of the bottom cymbal . This would make perfect sense , no ?
Yes, because it follows the pattern for simple ink stamps which Avedis cymbals have had since way back in the Trans stamp days (at least I think it is back to early 1950s -- must double check). Those ink stamps are mostly long gone due to cleaning, but occasionally I've seen photos of mint cymbals which still have them.
Sorry If I've cluttered up a 60s New Beat thread with my whole collection of how the ink changes over the decades, but I thought I should take the time to get my thoughts in order and get the examples out there.
