A question of value...

I decided to go with a temporary fix. Since the split parts lined up with each other, I cut one side off in a straight line, under a lug. Then I cut pieces of some old black wrap I took off my last project to fill in where there were missing pieces. I didn't cut it very well, but it's my first time attempting this, and I figure it's not going to be permanent. I taped the pieces together to hold them all in place, then glued them to the shell. Up close, it looks pretty bad, but from a distance you can hardly tell. Guessing most bar-goers won't even notice, especially since it doesn't face front-of-stage.

So, I have ordered wrap and bought an 18X16 floor tom without legs. Then I bought the legs separately. First, I found a set of 2 legs and mounts and bought them, thinking I could maybe find a third later. Then I found a set of three in better condition and bought them. Then for the kick drum, I bought a tom arm. The only other thing I was missing for the kick was the dampers, and the spurs. It seems the previous owner aquired the drums with only one spur, so he cut it in half to make 2 spurs. Then I found this, and successfully made an offer on it of $75.

Now I will have 2 extra ft legs, an extra tom arm, and extra bd lugs, etc. Am I going about this all wrong, or is it often like this?

I salvaged some of the floor tom wrap to re-cover the tom. Getting there... Does anyone know the closest paint match for the bd hoops (silver)?

Looks to me like your doing a good job! Don't worry about having a few extra parts. You never know what you may need next year or when a fellow member needs something and you can help him out. I have a half of a room full of extra parts. My wife calls me a Drum Junk dealer.

I can relate, Gerald. I was looking at a kit online the other day and my wife said, "you don't need them and we don't have room for any more drums." I told her we still have room in the Winnebago. Cool Dude
