Newb in the House - Big Ludwig Kick pics

Loading...

I just joined this forum and wanted to say it's really cool and I'm glad to be here. I've been playing for over 30 years and am a life-long Ludwig devotee. I was hooked in 1981 when my mom bought me a set of 1965 Gold Sparkle Luddys in a 20/12/14 config w/a rail mount. Here are a couple of pics of my most recent kits. The first is a fully restored and recovered 1974 Ludwig Bonham Kit (did i mention I'm a Bonham Freak??): 26/14/16/18. All shells are 3-ply w/reinforcement rings and granitone interiors. I restored all the hardware and my good buddy Matt Sinyard at Bonzo Drum Company performed the recover and reassembly. This was a really cool project that we had a lot of fun working on but I unfortunately had to let her go last yearcrying2-07 Don't cry too hard for me; I've got all the drums assembled for another Bonham project that will take place in the near futureYes Sir

This is my current kit: 1974 Ludwig Red/Silver/Blue Sparkle in the you gussed it, Bonzo config - 26/14/16. It's all original, 3-ply shells, re-rings, clear maple interior for the bass drum and granitone for the toms. They sound huge! I also have a 13x9 tom that goes along with it that stays in the case. If anyone out there has an 18" floor tom in this finish, I'm you're man!!!

Ludwigs4Life,

Welcome. I am quite new as well:) Nice kits! Well done on the Bonham restore as well...

I have a set of 1967 Ludwigs in silver sparkle, that probably look a lot like your 1965s did. Mine are the Club Date model though.

Check them out here---

Oh yeah, they would sound nice. I played in a blues band for several years and they were a lot of fun in that situation.
