Well it was a good goose chase, and several hundred dollars later I'm as finished with these drums as I can get, I think, unless someone has some real Aqua Satin Flame inlay strips laying around (the darker ones in these pictures are Turquoise Satin Flame from Precision).

All vintage Gretsch everything except for a pair of spurs that I made myself and the afore-mentioned inlay strips. Not a single extra hole in any drum, factory bearing edges, and with one very small exception none of them needed any work.

This was a really great project but I'm not entirely sure the sound is for me. I'll play a few gigs with them and make sure about that and then I'll most likely sell them.

Wow that is stunning. That wrap photographs like nothing else. Don't know the general consensus but the fact you didn't touch up the BD hoops is a huge plus in my view. Those ones have just the right amount of wear.

Will you play the shows 4-piece or the whole double-deal?

Just starting to fool with some Gretsch toms I recently got. It's tricky if you're used to a more open Ludwig type sound.............thinner heads?

Wonderful work you have done on this very rare complete double kit.Not many of these beauties around and i hope in time...and with some tweaking, you`ll be able to adjust the tone to your liking.Most kits of this size have been split up or parted out.That finish is absolutely killer.Again... great job on keeping them original.

Very nice and the inlays appear to be a pretty great match. If they really bug you I would suggest chrome inlays as that works with just about anything.

Great job on this kit. One thing I have noticed is that people seem to either really love that Great Gretsch Sound or it is just not their thing. I am going to have to get a Gretsch kit and figure that out for myself.
