The TRUTH about restoring drums.

Loading...

I'm a poor man with a rich man's hobby. The only rare/valuable drums or cymbals I'll ever own will be the ones I find in a garage sale, attic, or basement. I've had some luck so far.

Nothing in my collection, such as it is, will impress most people. But every single drum and cymbal that I own sound amazing.

Very impressive collection, and I really like the slat wall. Looks more like a music store than a drum cave. Really nice flock, but if I had that many sets, my wife would tell me to get the flock out.Mike

Hello Mike,

The slat wall was salvaged from the video store I owned for fourteen years

luckily I have the room to collect and display the kits

I have a sizeable second floor practice space in an old commercial building

Thanks very kindly Mitch

The Japanese drums I have shared here are just the tip of the iceberg

There is about seventy five full kits, numerous snare drums, hardware, furniture, fixtures

parts and boneyard shells,

Just this past Saturday I bought a five foot display case for some of the snare drums

Now it and everything else has nowhere to go

Oh man I am sorry to hear that . That space is unreal ! I wish my little 12' X 13' office in my house could look like that .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

At least you`ve got a couple of mos. to figure something out and hopefully come up with a new reasonably priced storage space.Amazing collection...and best of luck in your relocation of them.

Ken that is quite the collection. So sorry to hear you need to move. I hope you have some family and friends that can lend a hand. And hope there is a freight elevator too!

Update: I recieved a call this morning

As it turns out the owner's plans for my space have changed yet again

I was told that I would not be required to move out after all

at least not until next summer or sometime beyond.

Obviously I am not feeling as secure as I was before all this

but at very least I have time to thin the flock

while looking in a less frantic state for an alternative space

Thanks most appreciatively to all, for the kind words. ...... Kenwood

Hello drum folk

I am wondering about what types of glue to use

in a couple different ways related to drums

One would be in glueing a large patch of donor wrap

to a japanese bass drum with said large patch missing

so i would need something that would stick well between the donor wrap and the wood shell

and also bond the replacement wrap to the original wrap??

A carpenter pal of mine thought of Weldwood Contact cement

in the regular type open top can

with a brush to apply it........what do you guys think ?
