A. Zildjian Transisition stamp

I am very familiar with these cymbals (I have a few). My question is why do they call it a Transisition stamp and what year(s) were they on cymbals?

I've often wondered about that myself. I'll look into that question and get back to you.

that's a good thing! they were made during the 40's and through the early 50's. that is a long time to call something transitional! I like finding the earlier ones with the cross hatch(?) lines in the zildjian script. sure have to look close though..

Any way you look at it, they're just old and dusty, cruddy cymbals.

Why would waste your money on old junk like that when you can have a nice new one, still shiny looking and with an ink logo on it too?

What's 'a matter with you guys?

LOL THAT WAS A GOOD 1. I feel so sorry for my neighbor kid because he sees some wear on his Sabian logo and may have to buy a new one. I'm trekking him to fill it in with a Sharpie, nobody will know.........right?

Oddball, who is the HE you are referring to? I assume Rob Scott...hehehe

I'm with Drumaholic, just skip past tran-stamps and other 50's/60's zildjians and go right to the shiny new ones!
