i think it would be a little presumptuous to declare pearl didn't make any innovations in the drum world. their drum shells are where they take a few steps forward. sst technology creates solid wood shells. wood fiberglass shells in the seventies. and of course seamless acrylic shells are their most notable achievements. some things i like others i do not. i have ludwigs slingerland and pearl drums and like certain details on all of them. while it is true that japan tends to copy. it is also true that they have certainly left a positive mark on drum innovation over the last 30 years. (puts on flak jacket) my 2 cents,ryan p.s. maryann definitely. ginger is hot and all but maryann seems like the real freak.
