Jeff.. Shot 3 is a little out of focus... We can only see the drum...CheersJohn

Ha! Okay, yes the beer fridge on the left, my SteamWheelers Cheerleader poster in center. On the door is my sticker for our van making it up Mt. Washington (New Hampshire) along with a bunch of other junk, well not the photo of me and my daughter.

Next pic I will try and do better!

Thank you!

Yes, an Arena football team we had here in the late 90's thru mid 2000. They have been gone for several years now but my daughter and I sure had a blast at the games.

Removing wrap from the 16, found this wonderful Ludwig decal that must have looked stunning at one time, NOT!Pic # 2, close up of the high quality white paint job on the interior.Pic # 3, showing the white filler that was used to repair the gouges that were left after removing the original wrap.

What the...???? crying2-07 That is one crazy decal. I think my wife would have killed me if I held onto this kit. I think you will do it justice.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Some progress today, the 12 AND 13" toms have the paint removed. Now they need some sanding and more clean up. While stripping away the wonderful white paint from the inside, I thought a noticed a layer of another white paint, possibly the original white paint. Can anyone tell me if Ludwig shells with blue and olive pointy badge's would have been painted white. The inner ply is maple so I am a little confused here.

So, what do you guys think for veneer and finish? I had some stain matched to the maple thermogloss finish a while back and would like to try that out. But these drums were purchased for re-resale so what would be the best wood and color with that in mind?

Thank you!

I'd still try the thermogloss. Should be a good resale finish too.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Natural rock maple veneer with clear coats would be my vote, maybe even a nice birds-eye maple! I never cared for that 'sealed in plastic' thermogloss look. Natural wood with a nice clear coat to show off the grain and figure of the wood is always classy looking. :2Cents:

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Birds eye is too expensive, I will need stay with normal flat cut maple. So maybe thermogloss color without plastic look?

Thank you!
