This is the exact approach I use when adding to my MIJ drum collection

In my case I am trying to create a large display of vintage Japanese and/or otherwise

non USA drum kits

As long as they are cool looking, being anything near museum quality is not important

I enjoy getting them as clean and as complete as I can possibly make them

accordingly I really am not concerned with actual value

I have paid perhaps a little more than I should have for some

but I have scored some super dirt cheap deals on most so it balances out for me. varied colors is what I am going for

although I do have multiple kits in red blue and orange sparkle

Some are in awesome original shape others are so so ...but all of them are cool

My snare drum collection currently numbers about 30. Many of them are cool looking MIJ snare drums in more rare finishes, such as Pearl Fantasia, Peacock Pearl, Oyster Blue and Oyster Black.

Another very cool MIJ snare drum in my collection sports a "Karen" badge. This drum has large and thick die-cast hoops, Gretsch-style lugs, Slingerland-style clam shell throw/butt and a cool muffler. All this for only about $30! I really should post pictures of these wonderful MIJ snare drums!

Very impressive collection, and I really like the slat wall. Looks more like a music store than a drum cave. Really nice flock, but if I had that many sets, my wife would tell me to get the flock out.

I'm probably going to keep one of my 5 gretsch kits and a snare drum or two.

I've advertised to sell most of it now - no ebay sales though....all locally in the far north (Canada). Not a single reply yet.....doesn't surprise me though living up here.

I know what paid for all my stuff and I absolutely know I will never recover the money - I'm okay with that for now. But I don't want to give the stuff away either. I'll probably end up tearing everything down and packaging it up and putting it in storage somewhere.

i have a 60s premier in mahogany duroplastic (Ringo's first beatles kit), worth surprisingly little considering its background. it was my first kit, I trashed it as a novice, restored it and play it as an intermediate in a couple of bands. its value means little to me as I have an attatchment to this kit and wouldn't sell it for a million pounds. nice collection by the way kenwood!

Nice Flock! I know alot of 60's Japanese drums that are a bit moldy and on their way to the dumpster. If I had room I'd rescue every one of them
