1965 Slingerland Tom Exterior Ply

Loading...

I am re-doing my set date stamped 1965. The exterior ply of the 14 inch floor tom appears to be maple. The exterior ply is definitely not mahogany. What is the wood on the exterior ply of the shell of this 1965 14 inch floor tom? Thank you in advance for your replies.

Poplar..................was popular! Used on all Niles drums from that period, of course seeing as it was Slingerland there are probabaly a few anomolies.

For a three ply drum, if the inner ply is mahogany, and the outer ply was maple, what did they use for the middle ply? Was the middle ply also maple?
