I think there is at least one 50's stamp that is non block, has three dots and is 1 3/4" and taller.

In the original document setting out these Large Stamps, Bill talks about 3 types, 2 without the block lettering. The non hollow block versions came with the 3 dots (type II) and without the 3 dots (type III).

BTW, Bill clearly named them "large stamps" in this article above. Note that some other sites (I won't link to) introduced the term Big Stamp without (so far as I know) Bill's blessing, nor any acknowledgement that his work is behind this. Until I hear from Bill that he's changed the name officially, I'll stick with the original terminology. As a scientist I'm a stickler for proper acknowledgement and terminology.

And yes, although the article uses the language "a full 1-3/4" tall" these Large Stamps have since been documented which are taller than 1-3/4", and running up towards 2". I don't know how this fits into the original view expressed in the article. Maybe Bill will tell us about that.

Where is that article from?

I have yet to get a proper reference for it. It's pages 14 and 15 (they are on the pdf). There was also a previous article by Billy Jeansonne and Bill references that previous one. The Jeansonne article has an ad at the end. Maybe you recognize the layout of the magazine? Maybe you know the writer? It says "Vintage Drummer hopes to introduce these registration dates..." so that suggests a publication called "Vintage Drummer". I don't know about Vintage Drummer. I subscribed to NotSoModern years ago but then it quit publishing (before coming back as a web site).

The Jeansonne article has a photo of a laser serial stamp starting IG so we know the Jeansonne article was published after or during 1997. And it was published before Bill's article. Bill: can you give us the details? Were there ever any more in the series?

I have a 50s big stamp A ride. Not the hollow block. Got it from Maxwells. Probably the best cymbal I've ever played. And I have old K's too.
