Good old Ludwig's quality ( NOT ) control Last viewed: 10 seconds ago

I am the original owner ( bought when I was a kid ) of a 1967 Ludwig Oyster Blue Super Classic kit . While cleaning the shell with Novus today I discovered an extra hole behind the tom mount . The huge washers used with the mounting screws covered it all these years when I was happily unaware . Looks like somebody at the factory drilled the airhole in the wrong panel but luckily for Ludwig it was in the panel the mount was to be fitted so just cover up the goof - no prpblem !!!!!! DOH

P.S. Those white streaks you see are NOT scratches or scuffs in the drum . Some weird reflections .

Are you sure that's not steam coming off you when you found the extra hole?

Actually the quality of the domestics is right on par with the imports now....both for drums and cars....I tell ya though....I'd rather be working for Ludwig or Gretsch right about now rather than Chrysler (which I do....ugh!)

Dude, do you still have a job? I don't have TV, so news travels slowly in my home. I got the news yesterday about the No-Dough move they made. Sorry to hear about that. Hope things stay up for you.

I would agree for the most part that the domestics are on par with the Japanese now , but they got murdererd ( and not only the drum companies ) in the late 70's onward and deserved it because they put out a lot of crap with shoddy workmanship and it was ex*****ve too ( remember Slingerland's cardboard shells ? ) . Pearl still is # 1 in the world and I don't see that changing any time soon .
