That looks great! Yeah man, dowels will work fine, I just don't like the end grain of the dowels with the face grain of the shells. Again that is just my anal personality. Do you have a Woodcraft or a Rockler anywhere nearby? How about a more high end tool store. They would have the plug cutter. And if anybody needs plugs, I can cut a bunch and send them out, no big deal.

What is a plug cutter?

Go to the very begining of this thread and check the pics. Picture a stopper or "plug" for a sink or bathtub, only smaller in wood. It can cut the plug from the face or long grain of the wood so it blends with the grain of the wood you are trying to math. They (plugs) are generally used to hide the heads of screws in cabinets and furniture.

Ok, got it, I have one of those, I just didn't know what it was called. I thought you were talking about a tool that cut the plug flush with the project after it was installed.

I was gonna do your technique on the holes but didnt find the plug cutter and this is a junior kit i am wrapping with the infamouse wrap your drums for $59.99 from ebay. Dowels serve my purpous this time. Just wanted you to know I refered to this thread many times to get ready for it. Thanks man!

Since im wraping this project i dont think it makes much difference, especially since it's not gonna be valuable. its a junior kit im building from orphan shells. 6,8toms ,12 snare,13 ft ,16bass, jr pedals, and wraping with the $59 wrap ur drum kit in orange sparkle ebay wrap.
