Hey guys I just picked up this Sonor kit. I am not sure what setup it is exactly. I went through the catalogs but could not find anything certain. It's very neat in that it has a special order snare and a signature series dual tom stand!

I have a number of Sonor kits including Phonic and Phonic Plus. Your kit looks like Phonic. They are excellent! You can find more info at Sonormuseum.com. I have a D506 snare which looks like the one in your pic. What is custom about your snare?
Awsome Sonor drum kit. German beech shell drum kit can be very hard to beat!.

If you look at the price lists for Phonics, you`ll find it was less money to buy a cataloged kit than an ordered kit. Prolly to move them.
Did I see you mention the CT had edges on the bottom ? I don`t think that was factory but could have been surplus used. My Sound Machine does not have edges on the bottom. Edges only expand and compress the percussion wave when heads are on.

No edges on the bottom of the CT's. I would more than likely keep the whole kit if it were smaller sizes as I was mainly interested in the snare but just made an offer on the whole kit.

I`ve never had any other kit than the one I have but have trierd many others. I hear it all the time that people say "if they were smaller sizes"
What`s the attraction to smaller sizes ?
I`ve tried smaller drums before and didn`t like them. Especially small bass drums. I can deal with small tom toms for diversity but not FT and BD.

Of all my Phonic drums I only have one concert tom. It has a bearing edge on the bottom at it certainly looks like it's factory.

It more has to do with having to easier to carry and lighter drums for me. For example a lot of my 20" bass drums when run through a PA don't sound any smaller than my 22" and the response is great.
I used to gig heavy Sonor 600 series hardware and now my back thanks me that I no longer do so. For the most part I can get most of what I need out of a 12,14, 20 setup with whatever snare I chose. Even live I don't like my 22x18's much anymore. Not very easy to get that size in and out of a car. Granted I do have a hatchback but when the wife needs it I have to take our smaller car to gigs.
