The kit fits nicely within my collection now and the bass drum sounds amazing. Here is a summary of what I did:

Satin flame wrap removed

All edges re-done and to the same factory specs

Interiors re silver sealed

Stock bass drum reso head cleaned up

Heads on the bass drum were snug after everything so I had to notch the factory reso head at key places that would not be noticeable. I also notched the batter side bass drum head to get it on easier. No issues tuning at all and this bass drum sounds huge.

I found a very quick process for cleaning hardware and getting it to shine. Simply clean in a solution of CLR and water. Rinse off after and wax. The CLR works to get all the dirt, grim and oxidation off of parts and leaves chrome fine.

It looks really good. You did a good job. It's your kit and you can do anything you want to it. Gerald.

Thanks guys! I actually got to play it yesterday. All I can say is that it sounds as good as it looks. I am a going to get some different floor tom legs for taking the kit out on gigs. Other than that the only replacement part I have on the way is a 4820V - vintage style floor tom / bass drum mount.
