Anyone knowledgeable on Walberg & Auge?

On a personal note, I am the youngest daughter of RGB, Robert George Bernard. Yes, he was the craftsman that handmade the drum sets. His initials can be found inside each drum that he made.He learned his craft from my grandfather, George Bernard, who made drums for Walberg & Auge before my dad did. His drums were always painted black on the inside.It is wonderful to read the high praise regarding my dad's drums. I know he would be quite surprised to know that his drums are collectors' items.Thanks to all of you for your wonderful comments. You've made my day!

WOW, I am so humbled to hear from you. I am a huge Walberg & Auge drum fan. I have 2 kits: a '66 BOP with a '67 BDP snare, and a '68 Gold Glitter with the snare. My brother had a blue sparkle kit in the late '60's (kicks himself for ever selling it). As a player and enthusiast these drums blow my mind. To add to the thrill, I was born and raised in Worcester, the home of the greatest drums in the world! Please tell us more!

What a cool thread! Longtime drummer here - discovered Walberg a few years ago. Bought a 24, 13, 14, 16, 18 kit from around 1970. (?) It was wrapped in plain black wrap. Black interiors, Gretsch shells, Rogers lugs, Ludwig floor tom legs. It is being rewrapped as I type in a beautiful Ginger glitter glass.

As it appears I am in the circle with those who would know, I am trying to get some reproduction badges made to replace the adhesive foil badges from this era. My goal is to increase the beauty of these drums and let people know who made them! I have been unable to find any existing badges anywhere.

I want to make sure I'm not infringing on any proprietory branding laws.

In any case, I love these drums and will certainly post pictures when I get them back together next week.

I second your opinion that they are the greatest drums in the world! Bob built me a set in 1961 and I am in the process of restoring the best drums I have ever played.

I've been told that the correct pronounciation of Auge is to say the A like an O and the J is soft.... like the j in Beijing and the e is sounds like eh). Correct? Like some french words....

That would be the correct pronunciation. Probably an americanization of the name Auger, which is a common name in french canada. Btw, great thread! Very nice to have family of W & A drum builders in the house! Thanks so much for sharing!
