My new, to me, vintageish snare.

I got lucky and found this cheap in a local classifieds web. It's a 14x8 Sonor 518x in gloss black finish. The finish is not perfect and I need to find a vent hole grommet because the one it has is broken but it's purely cosmetical.

Is the snare vintage enough for the forum?

A 9-ply Phonic?? It sure is... :) That's a fantastic instrument man - pretty expensive too. Enjoy it :)

I've been told that these are rare and expensive but I found it for 400 eur + shipping.

I saw it a couple of months ago in that classifieds webpage and I was lusting over it but didn't have the money and it dissappeared.

Then I found that someone was selling a 14x8 Sonor Signature snare with a Bubinga finish and a 14" hardcase for 400 eur and I bought it with the idea that it could work but the Signature snare was way too loud and heavy.

And then the Phonic resurfaced. I sold the Signature for 400 eur to purchase the Phonic and now I'm happy with it.

Plus the paralell strainer mechanism of the Signature did not suit my taste. I'm not very handy and I prefer simpler stuff.
