K Zildjian 1960's 15" Hi Hats

Loading...

Greetings all,

my first post so hope I don't break any protocols.

I recently purchased a kit to find to my surprise that the hi hats were actually 15" K Zildjians in remarkably good condition. No keyholing, cracks or dings.

They have a small hole so they don't fit into the modern hi hat stands and the top cymbal is slightly smaller than the bottom one.

how much could I reasonably expect for them? They are made in turkey.

thanks and hope to get to know some of you over time,

George.

I recently sold this pair for over $700.00. One cymbal was in great condition and the other had a keyhole and minor spider cracks in the bell.

If they are what you think, then great find! Weigh them and do some research, usually the lighter weight sets are more desirable.

Randy

Hi Randy,

thanks for your reply. I thought that's the sort of money they were fetching, if not more.

Where did you sell your hi hats?

My top hat is 910g and the bottom is 916g. Given that the bottom is slightly larger I guess they could be considered comparable weight.

kind regards,

George.

I sold mine on Ebay. That is the link to the auction. Those are great weights on 15's. Do a Google search on Zildjian timeline and you can find some great info on stamp dating guides.

Check out this link.

I'm no expert, so I'll leave it for someone else to chime in. Good Luck!

Hi Randy,

that's a very useful link you provided.

Looks like they are really from the 1950's!

The kit I bought them with was a 1967 Rogers Holiday Black Onyx Pearl but perhaps the cymbals are somewhat older than the kit.

Too late to change the header but I guess interested people will read further down the page.

thanks for the info,

George.

Wow..15" Old Stamp hats! Don't see those everyday!

Those are 1950's also...not 60's!

BTW..I have a stray 20"Blk Onyx rim here...if you only got 1 on your kit....

Old stamp IIIb is what they look like! Circa 1953-1956

I'm sure Drumaholic will reply with the correct era...

Hi blairndrums,

the stray rim sounds interesting, however my kit is a 13", 16", 22" configuration. I guess most of them were probably with a 20" Bass drum.

George.
