Drum head options in 1971 ~Supraphonic 402~

Loading...

Searched for this but had no real luck. Do any members now what was exactly available to you in the 1971 era for Remo drum heads, especially for the snare resonent side. Was there something like what we have today a clear "hazy" 2-3 mil mylar head or did you have 2-3 mil smooth white heads or perhaps just a smooth white (or clear) Diplomat in 7.5 mil.

Curently I am using a 7.5 mil Diplomat clear (resonsnent snare side) and have special ordered a smooth white diplomat 7.5...also tried a smooth white 10mil Amabassador but it did not work as well. The batter (for the 402 sanre) is a new vintage series Emporer which is different in thickness and color to the standard Emporer's I used.

Best...

Dunno...but I can certainly assume from the number of vintage drums I have peeled old heads off of...that Ludwig Coateds were definitely around, as well as the usual Remo suspects...Ambs, Diplomats, and Emperors....

Thanks Jaye for your help...I hope we can find someone who has an old catalog or something to actually see. I just wonder if the "hazy" type of head existed?

Thanks,

E
