Neither is a trans stamp. And neither is late '40's to early '50's. Very few, and I mean only a very small handfull, of those making claims of dates based on trademark characterisitcs on eBay has even the slightest idea of what they are talking about.

And also those 2 are not the same.

So the Cymbal Guide stamp that is not labeled, what would it be? And what would the Ebay one be? Or where else can I go to do my own research? Thanks, Kevins

The eBay trademark is late 50's. The other one is somewhat ambiguous but not the same.

Unfortunately there is currently no authoritative guide available for identifying and dating cymbal trademarks that can be used to further your research.

I didn't want to start another thread since this one is appropriately named. I bought a used A. Zildjian 22 ride from the local music store, Starving Musician.

I was looking for a cymbal to go with a Roots/STAX Records group I jam with. I like 22s and know most drummers used 20s or 18s in that era but this a fun project and the material is inspired by the STAX artist we are not trying to duplicate ( like I could duplicate Al Jackson, right ) that sound.

OK, the previous owner cleaned and trashed the surface, there are also 2 deep grooves (lathe marks) on the inside of the bell. Here are some images of the cymbal:

A closer rear view shot of both would help in giving you the ID.

Yes that helps a lot. Both are late 1950's.

Thanks for the ID. Any idea on the 2 deeper lathing rings on the inside of the bell? I can't remember ever seeing this.
