Is it nobler, in the minds of drummers, to add gates, or suffer the slings and arrows of choked snares?
My apologies to Shakespear, may he RIP)
I Have 2 old (1930's-40's) radio King snares (on another post here) One is a 1940 Buddy Rich that did not have the gates. I like the gates on these snares because of the way the snares sit on the head and not having the ends of the snares choke the drum head.
Since I have already refinished the drum (making it worth less to those collectors who like to look) does anyone think it would be wise to add the RK bridges (hopefully making it worth more to those who play). I am sure that I will probably never sell these drums unless I have to, so it will fall to my wife and kids to sell them after I kick the bucket; nonetheless, anyone have any thoughts?????????
My MAIN concern is SOUND - not resale.
