Dilapidated Luddys :(

I got a email from an ole drummer friend today. A friend of his wife does estate sales, There some luddys involved. $200 later here I am.

7 piece natural finish B/O badge, granitone interior, 3 (separating)ply shells, and a very nice keystone, baseball bat muffler, 5 X 14, supraphonic snare. All the shells are pretty much trash. Apparently the guy/drummer left them in their cases in the back of a broken down pick up in his back yard for the past several years. I ended up getting the dilapidated 7 piece kit , with the very nice supra, ghost pedal, speed king hi hat, and a miniature antique upholstered chair. There was some Zildjians that can be bought also , but the're not near as dilapated. Ill take some more pics if you want to see em...

lots of way to look at that. you bought a supra for a sweet deal and the rest was free! if the shells are damaged beyond repair, that's plenty of hardware to sell or to finish off some project shells. I would sure check out the cymbals though. well done..

Mike is absolutely right. You paid for the supra and even if the shells are trashed, you've got enough there in hoops and hardware to make a nice return on your investment, or to finish off another kit. Either way, you did good!

It also cme with a 5 gallon bucket of parts I havent looked at yet. I know I could sell the lugs and rims etc..... but I am thinking about useing them as a decoration at our JamHole

With all that good hardware available, why not look for a nice set of bare vintage shells to put them on!

Ya, I wish I could find a kit like that. For the money the parts are cheep, do like John says and get some shells and build a nice kit with them.

you know in the history of my work experience, we use liquid petrifiers for wood restoration, and epoxy's from abitron co. also there is a granitone inside paint and the exterior stain can bee stripped bleached and refinished but that is a lot of work, but nothing is junk it all can be restored ...

Sometimes the most difficult restorations end up being the drums you most enjoy- I have a Tama concert tom set in my garage that's at least as bad if not worse than those. Delaminated silver wrap, rusty rims- can't go anywhere but UP...
