Ordered zebra wood veneer today, should have it next week! Now the satin color, if any. It will be fun to play around with that.

That will be SWEET! I am glad that you opted for a little more exotic finish. I love mahogany as much as anyone, but it's been done. This is going to look gorgeous.

That is a P87. Really good high quality strainer. Also used on the Buddy Rich Super Classic snare drums.

Here is a pic of the snare wire that was on the drum. This marcher was a 15" drum, is it possible to cut down the wires and make it work on a 14" drum?

Removed glue from the marching drum shell last night. Now I am thinking about what size to cut it down to. Most likely will be 7". The holes are not working out for my lugs, which require holes at 2 7/32 on center. The existing holes are 1 11/16 on center so I am thinking about plugging all of the lug holes up.

I decided to scrap the P-87 strainer and just settle for a brand new P-85 strainer with a new P-32 butt plate. The wires for the P-87 are too much of an issue.

Yes indeed!... the P87 with P88 butt require wires that are attached with THREE screws. No cord in this case. The P85 is super simple and extremely effective. No hassle! Wire choice opens up WIDE with the use of the P85 throw/strainer as well. Again though... I think you are going to find that those cable snares are way too dry. But maybe not!... as it really is completely and totally subjective to personal taste.

Thanks Tommy, perhaps I will put the marching drum together and give those cables a try before I hack them up. I am fine with the P-85, heck you very seldom use it anyway, at least I don't.
