Anybody know what these are (composition / place of manufacture, etc.)?

They may be good! I put up a set of cb-700 hi hats on ebay for $40 and no buyer. They were stamped "made in Italy" and sounded nice and crisp like vintage 602's. After no one wanted 'em I said screw it, I'll play 'em.

I bet a lot of "second rate" cymbals from this era are pretty decent. Not all though.

These Kent cymbals are not mine. I just saw them on the bay and was wondering about them, as I have never seen any in person and have not learned anything about them.

I love the Italian CB-700s. Those are made by Tosco (late 70s) and I have many of them - including a pair of 15 inch HHs. I actually have a 16 and an 18 crashes for sale right now. That 18 is about the best sounding 18 crash I have ever heard - right up there next to my other one I have (I have 2 - thus selling one).

They look like nickel/silver alloy. Made in Kenmore N.Y. U.S.A:

Yes according to Hugo Pinksterboer, The Cymbal Book, 1992, p163:

Besides the series that are sold under the Meinl name, the German factory has long made cymbals for many other companies. Some examples are Avanti, Protec, Supreme, Headliner, Majestic, Magic, and Kent, the former USA drum company.

So - it looks to be fairly conclusive that the Kent cymbals were made by Meinl. Bill suggests that one appears to be Nickel Silver. Meanwhile, looking at the two offered on the bay (my original post) certainly do not look Nickel Silver.

Could there have been different compositions made in different years, or even perhaps a possible 2nd manufacturer?

I don't have any other Kent trademark in my archives. But there have been other cases where 2 manufacturers used the same trademark names at different times.

I would say that its also likely that there are 2 manufacturers in this case. I don't think Meinl ever made any cymbals in New York.
