World class drums, top of the line stuff. Sadly discontinued.

Fast attack, lower fundamentals, nice low end as well as the top, there seems there is a scoop in the mids so not much eq is needed to make them sound good.

Recording and live sound engineers love them. They hold their tuning very well

Wonderful sounding kits, they don't require much tweaking to sound like they do.

Everything said above, and maybe a bit more. I've had mine for about a year, and really like them.

I have a set that I used regularly for about 10 years until I started acquiring Slingerlands in 2010. I haven't used them much since then, but they are fantastic drums. What Joao said: They sound great with minimal effort.

Slightly off topic, but the hardware is also exceptional. Easy to adjust, rock solid, and not overbuilt (they invented the hidden boom). I use a Dynamo HH, but my cymbal stands are all Yamaha 700 series.

Fishwaltz,

That's a nice Hot Red kit you have there! RA series make these quite rare! I have a Black RA I'm working on, and man these toms sing!

+1 on everything that´s stated above.

They sound great, easy to mic, easy to handle (set up), great hardware.

Before I started to play "era-correct" drums in my 60s-70s-band, the RCs always were first choice in studio and live.

Mine are from the late 80s/early 90s era.

Mostly I played them with the snare that´s pictured or the first edition of the Peter-Erskine-Yamaha snare (4x14 wood).

...they invented the hidden boom

The Lokfast Cymbal Holder (470) made by Premier 1972, features a hidden Boom, so I guess that was before the 9000.

The long Lugs also have some similarities...

I like the 9000 Recording, a Gaddish 22, 10, 12, 14 in elegant Piano black would be nice to have and play! Hardware is great, too.

I stand corrected. Just going by what a Yamaha rep told an impressionable high schooler at a long ago PASIC. But that doesn't change my opinion of the hardware.
