Thanks Anthony. Maybe they will believe you when you say it is cookie related, even if they don't believe me.

For those interested in this issue:

http://www.google.co.nz/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=vbulletin+remember+me+not+working&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=MlL1UpTHLoWziQe784DAAw

brings up a slew of threads. Some are quite amusing. Some relate to different versions of vB. I liked this one (especially considering the kind of forum it is on):

http://www.socialanxietysupport.com/forum/f174/site-cant-remember-me-187810/

Note everybody, that it is possible that you can do all these steps successfully and still have the problem. That's dependent on issues like firewalls and anti-virus (or anti-malware) software which is why I mentioned those in my list of potential issues as well. Unlikely but possible.

And thanks Anthony for your excellent work in fixing up things in the return from the dreaded vB5. I don't think that people here (who aren't aware of the number of forums vB5 has killed off and the havoc it has wreaked) appreciate what you did. I know of the larger context and am very grateful for your expertise and fine work. Bowing

*** edit *** I just remembered about those on "Smart Phones". I'm not a Cell Phone user (yes folks it's true) so I'm not sure how they will get on. I know that one of the attractions of vB5 Connect is the support for mobile devices and I don't know what is available under vB3. When people are complaining about all their many devices ignoring "Remember Me?" (some mobile, some desk) it makes me wonder if they have all their devices set the same way (clear cookies on exit from browser), or a different kind of issue? If you can get any pertinent details out of the mobile device users who are having trouble that might give you a lead. That is, presuming they follow your instructions on their mobile devices and don't find a remedy, but do get something working on desktops or laptops. Just a thought.

I had a problem with logging in. Every time I logged in, I would find myself logged out immediately. If you can see this post it means that Tommyp fixed it for me. THANK YOU!!

Yup, it works, many thanks to the admins and also to Stephen, I think he goes by the name jcymbal here, who contacted them for me.

Another question: if the problem was on my end, and had to do with server/browser/cookie issues on my end, wouldn't that impact my ability to stay logged in to the other vBulletin forums I frequent? I am still signed in at Drummerworld and Talkbass, with no automatic logging out issues. I am still of the opinion that something changed on the VDF side, coincidentally at the same time as the shuffle to and from the other interface. That, and the fact that other people noticed the same problem all at the same time.

Well, I have two offices at work (2 different buildings), an office in my home, and a windows tablet. I've clicked "Remember Me" on all four, and am auto-logged in on each one.So, no problems here...Bill

Thank you for your helpful reply. I tried it and it didn't work. I suppose I'll just have to live with no automatic logging in for the time being until the vBulletin issue gets resolved. FWP. :)
