so how will we be able to access these posts? i have a cup'l that i don't just want to let go. would it be better if i just repost them? thank you.
Are you referring to the 12 days of posts after the server change and upgrade?Technically they are not gone. We have them on the server. We could not use that database on this forum. We had to go back to the 9th and start from there. We are going to possibly give everyone the option of accessing those posts if they need something from them.David
Oh ya the quick reply, I see. I tell ya, I have been happy all along with your forum from day one. Whatever you guys decide is fine with me, as I said, were all here together, thats what is important.
I really like how once you click on a thumbnail pic it expands them, like before, but now you can click those forward and reverse arrows, I really like that feature.
Trying to answer a few of the questions in one post.
1 Site Width
This version was always set at 800 wide. That was the thing back in 2005. It all depends on your screen and resolution. If you set your resolution to 800 x 600 this site will fill your monitor. Now, most of us are setting our monitors to the highest resolution and that makes the site look really skinny. There are other options, but this also works great on mobile devices without any added technology to adjust if our site was much wider - the widest we can go now is 1024 which also fits mobile devices. We will never have a true "Mobile" version with this older software.
2. Avatars
Those are turned off here and how we had originally set it way back when. I had witnessed other forums with them and it just got out of hand and I thought it just took away from the vibe.
3. Version
Version wise we are now running 3.8.7. Technically speaking it is a vintage software :) it will never have the bells and whistles of the newer versions. Which in a way is a good thing as we have learned the bells and whistles also bring forth trials and tribulations of the vast amount of browsers and operating systems.
We did decide to keep the vB5 running on the server, so we can hopefully keep testing it and see if it will ever be bug free and fixable. So if at a later date we have to upgrade, we can do so with less issues.
I do want to say thanks to everyone for hanging in there. We always had the best intentions to keep this going and also to preserve the place it is. That little blip will be a memory soon...
David
Part of the switch back was also to keep the VB5 running and AnthonyG was going to let us know when we can go in there and pull what we want out.
Not sure when, but it is in the plans in the coming days to get access back temporarily. Then we have to close it to the public.
You can also just repost if you want, if you have the info.
David
I think the powers that be pulled a New Coke trick. Made us miss the old VDF format, then brought it back :)
Hurray! I was having real issues with posting to the new version (Wanted to download .json files!).

Checked in.

thank you David. i think i will just repost them here after bit. i still have the info and it's not that big of a deal to repost. actually it will be better to do so, that way all the info will be in my OP insted of scattered thru out the thread.
Are you sure you want to delete this post?
