The Sonor Museum forum seems to be down. I was going to check the classified for you....oh well.

A good source for Sonor spares is stdrums.de

Nice drops Cyllocke. That is a badass finish.

I have the Krystall Silber Schwarz finish 20, 13. About to add 16 FT. Then all I'll need is snare.

For the rust I've had good luck with using wet foil. Rust comes right off.

As for the black stuff on inside of shell, try some 400 grit sandpaper lightly.

I got onto sonormuseum with a g mail account, so maybe that will help you. There are very many helpful people on this forum as well, but if you get on sonormuseum try to get in touch with Henk. Very nice guy and knows his Sonor bro...I bet he could help find your drums. I think he is also on this forum.

Also there is company in Germany called stdrums that carries some old sonor parts. Like if you need rims for that tom, they might have those. As for your bass drum muffler, mine rusted out so I don't use it. It's still on there but I haven't replaced the round felt. I just took 2 pieces of felt and did the Steve Smith horizontal dampening thing. Works for me.

Hope this helps....

Pancake- unfortunately they wouldn't ship outside of US.

Oh well.

The quest continues.....

Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate it. I know about Henk, I've seen his posts here as well as in the Sonormuseum, and I was planning to PM him - but if I can join with a Gmail, that's great: I already have an account :)

The foil thing works up to a point - I've tried it combined with a Cola drink - it's made hoops nice and shiny, but it doesn't work so well on screws. I'll have to come up with something else for those. The black stuff on the inside of the shell seems to be some kind of paint or glue residue - those marks look like someone used tape to stick something on the shell. Sanding was the first thing in my mind, but I'll try my best to avoid it just in case. Any ideas on how to clean that?? I saw those Premier Soundwaves in the other thread and I was stunned - fantastic work, I want to be able to do that :)

I'll have to try that coke thing that's cool.

Hmmm- maybe goo gone will take off the marks?

Or like one of those mr. Clean magic erasers? Those things are awesome!

Yeah Henk is the man! When you get on there check out his snare collection in the Geeks section. Simply unreal. He has like 4 drums I would saw off body parts for!

Those are amazing! I should have paid more attention to the old drums when I was at the Sonor factory. They have a neat little museum there right next to their showroom.
