Got my hands on some cool Sonor stuff :) This is from 1956 - at least, that's what the date seems to be. I'm no expert, but it looks like a D411 Tonika model. It's in great condition for its age, very light pitting, no cracks, tight wrap. The interior of the drum is in great shape, virtually no rust, no mark whatsoever on it. That's the good news - on the other hand, non-original wires, bottom calf skin is torn and the throw-off cap is missing (assuming I'm correct about the model).
Christmas shopping :)
Some more pics. The muffler pad is missing a tiny screw, though I guess that can be replaced easily. There's a very faint stamp in the first photo, it seems to be '18 (?) FEB (?) 1956 P1'. I assume that last part describes a wrapped shell, just like Slingies. My seller said that the drum had been sitting on a shelf for the past 30+ plus years - that would explain why I had some trouble removing the lugs. I suspect the drum is not exactly round, I'll get back on that later.

I love the 50s Sonor script logo badges. It's too bad the company doesn't have anyone with the vision to see that some of the early creations were beyond brilliant and bring some of it back.
Nice find Cyllocke!
Absolutely Singalud. Man I love the older Sonor stuff. Way ahead of its time IMHO.
Some more pics of the hardware, after a light cleaning. I wasn't sure what to use and I didn't want to cause any damage, so this is the result of hot water with dish soap and a tint of bleach. Do you think WD40 would have helped more with those difficult spots? Opinions are welcome. Also, the claws are not the same material as everything else - not steel and not brass, I know that. Perhaps aluminium??
