Anyone have ideas of dates or other info? It's a very heavy 15", probably an orchestral cymbal. I'm looking for a mate.

15" too and stamp looks exactly the same. Mine is a really heavy one!

Yep, Drumaholic is right (He's the man). It looks to be in pretty good shape too.
If you're looking for a mate I would say sit tight and keep an eye on ebay, 15" is a fairly common size for that plate.

Make sure that when you find a mate you measure them both, it's very common for the old K's to have odd sizes. 1/2", 3/4", 7/8" in-between sizes are kind of cool, but sort of maddening if your looking to pair them up.
If you're ever looking to sell it give us orchestra dudes a call first. We LOVE the super-old K's.
the other thing about these old cymbals is that some times they're not even round. I mean, you take one measure and it's something like 14"7/8. You take another measure and now it's 14"6/8. :D

I want a match close in weight for orchestral use. Mine is ~1500 grams. It wouldn't be very good for a hi hat, even a bottom cymbal.

I like to use old K's, yes even heavy ones, as a pair in the orchestra. That sound is very coveted among orchestra percussionists.
The problem is that because the quality control back in the day left a little to be desired, many old K's are duds. Once in a while though you come across a real diamond in the rough - and THAT'S the one (or two) that work perfectly in the concert hall.
Even different concert halls can react wildly different to the same pair or cymbals. One hall may help them sound really "gong-like" where another hall makes them sound really throaty and raspy (that's the sound I like).
Usually us orchestra guys are looking for very different qualities in a cymbal than the drumset guys. The heavier and heartier, usually the better, to a degree of course. What makes for a great jazz ride in a combo can end up sounding anemic when you're trying to cut through 100 musicians playing as strongly as they can together.
