@Andrew: That's a nice Kit (and weather) you got there!!

Thanks. That photo is from a while ago but the weather is pretty nice right now as well.

Of all your kits, do you have a favourite? You have some stunners for sure.

Gary - glad you're refurbing the old hoops. I think they will look better on the kit and they might even sound better.

I see that the 14x10 tom is listed in the 72 catalogue but no photo. the different lugs due to the deeper shell sounds like a reasonable explanation though.

Thanks! Well, all my Premier Kits are built from the same african Mahogany, carry the same Hardware and were built in the same era.

So the Difference is just Set ups, Sizes and Heads and Tuning. I enjoy 'em all, depending on the Music or Mood.

Best Wishes,

Lars

Well there you go my decal supplier has done me the classic logo so they are on their way to make the kit more accurate to the 70's.

For UK people the e-bay link is here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281222521780?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D281222521780%26_rdc%3D1

I will refurbish to hoops as I think you are right they may sound better but the two nearly new metal ones were an e-bay bargain at $10 each.

My second near mint 2000 snare arrived yesterday so the collection is growing.;)

I think you are right re the 14x10 tom as single nut boxes would mean the tensioner rods would be very very long and it was an easy option to put two floor tom ones on.

I think I will add a 12x8 tom if I can find one as the 14" is very large and it would be good to have both options available for recording.

Perfect!

I have a "new for 72" brochure, and they show a tom like yours in there as such...don't think they offered it like that for too long though...

I have 2-10 by 14's here, and both have long lugs...

I know I sound like a broken record, however, I think Premier had the best finishes and hardware from an aesthetic point of view of just about any manufacturer. The "shimmer" and "star" finishes looked fantastic. Aquamarine sparkle was unique (not a typical red, blue, gold, etc.) and even the duroplastic finishes looked great. Their lug design was unique and, as I have said several times before, no one has ever made a more artistic way to hold a cymbal, hi-hat or snare drum than the LokFast line. All of this is my opinion but I would love to see someone reasonably argue that last point. It sure would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Ringo and Bonham would have played Premier when their respective careers took off.

@tnsquint: Same here, completely agreed!

I wish there was a classy nice Coffeetable Book with color Photos of all those British Premier Beauties, the Players and some stories behind them...

Lars
