Best vintage hi-hat stand?

Loading...

I'm sick of lugging all this heavy modern hardware from gig to gig. I love my reed-thin ludwig cymbal stands. I have the lightest hi-hat stand Gibralter makes, but, it's not nearly as light as an old rogers or Gretsch. What do you think is the best value in a vintage hi-hat stand. So far, the best I've tried is Rogers. I'm interested in light weight, durable, non-squeaky, and, of course, feel...

I love my Ludwig 1123-1 Spurlock. The fact I got it for free makes me even happier. Very smooth, lightweight and surprisingly stable.

I own and play Ludwig 1123-1 and the 1124-1 (Atlas), Rogers 60's Swivomatic with hinged heel and Slingerland 804 flush-base and 806 Dynamo stands. While I like them all, I'd choose the Ludwig Atlas 1124-1 if I had to gig repeatedly. It's light, compact and easily adjustable for spring tension.

I'm partial to the 1960s Gretsch Hi Hat stands because the top rod is "hinged" and you dont have to screw anything in. Set up is like 5 seconds.

Spurlocks work well so do the camco and the slingerland and they're all light as a feather

Ludwig 1124 all the way. It does everything a hi-hat needs to do and in a light and compact form. The pre-1975 models with the flat legs (tubular legged version has the same feel but takes up more space when folded).

The plentiful 1123-1 is a close second but I prefer the look of the Atlas model.
