18” Vintage A’s…What Do I Have Here?

Loading...

I don’t normally go out on a limb buying vintage cymbals because I’m not very educated on them and such but these were cheap enough I would have been stupid not to pick them up. Anyways, looking for info on these two Avedis 18” cymbals. Mostly looking for what time period they are from.

Cymbal #1

18”, 1586 grams, Zildjian logo lacking the 3 dots, no sign of there ever being any ink stamps (not even the hollow Zildjian logo). Fairly uniform lathing pattern (to me anyways).

late 60's machined brass nice !

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

My guess is #1- 70s, #2- early 60s.

Good day, Sir. Would your evaluation apply to both cymbals or one or the other?

I was thinking late 50's on the first one and early 60's on the second one. I assume that's what drumaholic was identifying as well..

Thank you for your expertise guys, I would have guessed otherwise. I didn't realize they were that old.
