1963 Ludwig OBP Snare

Loading...

Happy Birthday, as this snare turns 50 - stamped 18 NOV 1963 in red ink inside the shell. It's a 6-lug, making it a Pioneer model, but has the same oyster black pearl wrap, P-83 strainer, P-32 butt plate, and red felt muffler with baseball bat arm as Ringo's Jazz Festival. Best sounding snare I've ever heard. Please enjoy.

66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Thanks. It has triple-flanged steel hoops.

Should be over brass in 63, no? Super cool snare though! I personally dig the pioneer drums more than the Jassers. Also dig the price tag more usually. Maybe not in this case though!

Thanks, Adam. I've read that the '63 Jazz Fest had steel over brass hoops, but haven't seen much about variations in the Pioneer. I think the hoops and heads are stock. I got it from my drum teacher in '74, and he bought it new. The date stamp is real clear, and here's a pic of the badge.
