i see...thanks for the info ..the 60s niles badge is accurate to my measurement then..it didnt look the same though..it looked like the oval 48 - 50 badge...

here a few more pics of the inside shell...not bad for a free shell....just need to get all of the parts ! ill keep you guys posted on the progress. I want to keep the shell as original as possible so i plan on just finding some type of furniture formula to shine up the shell and call it a day..who ever stripped the laquer off the drom did a good job and avoided me a headache!

After the badge impression measurements and seeing the date stamp, I now agree it's a 60's shell.

A free shell is good and I can't wait to see pictures of the completed drum.

Well after months of putting this off due to me being laid off. I finally started putting this thing together. I bought the 3 pt strainer and butt plate from a forum member here. I think his name was moonlight drummer or something. Thanks again. I'm waiting for 12 nob sound king lugs in the mail from eBay and I'm still savings up for the top and bottom snare hoops. The badge that I put on this thing shouldn't have a serial number since the drum is from 61 and originally came with the black and brass pre serial number badge.

I put some clear coat stain on the inside and outside shell to freshen the look up a bit. I Also used a minwix touch up marker to cover up some scratches. Not sure if I want to get the edges recut. I kind of want to get it together first to see how it sounds.

I'll keep posting progress as I get more parts.. I also may go with patterson gut on this drum but not sure on how it will sound. Maybe puresound makes 15 inch size snares
