Did I spell that right? lol I might as well learn how to spell Gretsch. I went to Guitar Center yesterday to get some 13" snare heads for both my piccalo snares. They have drums up to the ceiling. I like going in there and checking prices on cymbals so I can feel good about all the money I have spent on them lol. They have used drums they have taken in on trade. There was a Gretsch Blue Diamond fusion drum kit, complete with gibralter stands and bouble bass drum pedal for $199. I looked at it and thought to my self " Damn those are pretty!" After talking to the guy, I went home and quickly shined up my CB kit that I aquired a while back and took it back up there to trade in on the Gretsch. After all the guy said they would accept my CB's in on trade.

Long story short, they wouldnt take the cb's but sold me the gretsch for $180. I sold my 3 pearl drums on ebay this weekend for $189 anyway. I got the pearl exports off of craigslist for $150 and get to keep the new beat hats and a acrolite and tama snares, and a few good stands. The snare is in the house with the rest of my snares

Nice. I've owned a couple of those kits. They are the newer Blackhawk series with raw Luan Mahogany shells and 30 deg edges. Out of the box, they sound acceptable. But....

Let me turn you on to something.

http://www.vtpf.com/finishes.html

This is OSMO Hardwax Oil. This stuff should ship with those Gretsch drums. Please note that at no time will you need to sand the inside of your drums! It's a very simple process. You remove all the hardware, liberally apply this stuff with a rag, let dry, apply a smoother second coat, let dry, apply a third coat for the drums that need more resonance and cut, let dry, reapply the hardware, lightly sand edges and edge wax them. Put the heads back on and play your "NEW" kit. I'm not kidding when I say this stuff will absolutely make your 200 dollar kit (I paid 400 apiece my three of my kits ) sound like a higher end sweet warm round deep resonating kit. This is not a gimmick. It is GREAT for that porous wood. Read about it and you will see why it works so well. It is made to get DEEP into the wood and make it a harder and more resilient wood surface. It's made for very very very high traffic wood floors. It doesn't just coat like some. It gets deep deep deep into the wood. Unbelievable stuff.

A very dear friend of mine owned my ludwigs. he died a few yrs ago anf left them to his son. I bought them from him for $600. I will never let them go! lol

My brother has been a musician all his life, He gave me the sonors and I looked for a few yrs untill i finally found the floor tom on google craiglist in canada. I got it for $250. I watch craigs list every day. you never know what will be on there and you have to be quick to get some of that stuff, especially the steals. I am not married so I can spend my money on anything I want to. hehe
