"old & Ugly"

Tonight I picked up the 22" cymbal you see in the attached pics. It's got so much dirt and grime on it I really can't find a stamp, assuming that there is one. The only thing I can find on it is the word "BOUNCE" and the word "MEDIUM" in very faded black ink. I also see what looks like the letter "L" stamped on the cymbal a few times. If anyone can help date or I.D. this one, I'd be very grateful. I'd also like to hear suggestions on what's the best product to use in an effort to clean it up. THANKS in advance for your time.

I'm not absolutely sure of what you've got there except to say that the term "bounce" would be indicative of a Zildjian, since they coined and used that term. And the combination of weight and type designation would also indicate Zildjian.

One way you light be able to find the trademark would be to look for an indented area on the back side. The trademark will be found on the opposite side located on the "hump".

ive bought a bunch of cymbals in which the seller stated there was no stamp. they can be fun to find! I put my cymbals under the desk lamp and go around the middle-outer edge with a magnifying glass.

I too think avedis zildjian with the bounce stamp. plus it looks like an avedis to me. the center section around the hole looks pretty flat like you see on some hollow block mid 50's era zildjians.

see if you can find us a stamp!

Looks like an Avedis Zildjian bounce ride. I don't care if you clean this one - just don't clean the old K!!

Found one, Mike. Not sure if it's a 50s or 60s. Can you tell?

That`s not a B, it`s an 8.

That makes this a 50`s 8 ounce medium three dot disappearing stamp.

The L is for left handed !i

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

I would guess at 60s but we'll see what Mike says.

Looks mid-late 60s to me--verging on 70s "thin" stamp.

Sizzle swings.
