g'day from the land downunder,
i have just aquired a set of roxy drums... they are on the list and say they might be from germany... they definately are as the badge reads:
"roxy
hamburg
made in west germany"
therefore these can't be a branch of pearl or tama - american companies... sonor maybe??
has anyone got any onfo on roxy drums... they have been passed down from my late grandfather.. my mum believes that he bought them when living in germany around 1948... that ages this kit at 60 years.. can anyone please confirm or deny this assumption...
the kit was originally a 7 piece:
14x5 snare, 12x8 tom, 21x13 bass (interesting dimensions), 6.5x6, 8x7 & 10x8 concert toms (no bottom head), and a timpani style kettle drum (floor drum equivalent)... i have all the drums except the kettle. my mum swears there was this kettle style, foot pedal tone adjustable, drum where the floor tom should be.. no-one in the family knows where this drum is... we will keep looking as this will really make the kit a ripper..
i have replaced all the hardware as it came with random bits and bobs from other kits...
i have replaced the drumheads, except the 6.5" concert and the 21" bass head. these are getting custom made thru remo...
i have got some 70's era zildjian a's coming thru ebay... i will post photos when complete...
anone feel free to offer advice or knowledge as i am short of both...
cheers,
wesgart.
