6.5 Wood Dynasonic: What a shame

Loading...

Not my listing, but certainly caught my attention. Beautiful early 6.5" wood Dyna redrilled and refitted with Beavertails, but NOT snare beavertails... Tower bass beavertails. Should still have that original sound though, no? Salvagable by refitting with B&B's and filling the holes?

I think it looks fine ... I think you could plug them pretty easily. Or use as is. Great looking drum.

I saw this auction and I'm watching it just to see where it ends. It's a shame, but who knows how long ago this retrofit was completed.

Which leads me to my next thought ...

Rogers engineering was top notch and set the bar for drum hardware, but how/why did they miss the mark on the minor difference between the Bread & Butter and Beavertail lug mount spacing? I know they wanted to sell the newer drums with newer hardware, but you figure there were many owners that just wanted to replace their cracked Bread & Butter lugs. I would think many filed warranty claims with Rogers. Did they get sent a replacement B & B lug or did Rogers ever send a complete set of replacement Beavertail lugs. It's possible, some of the surviving B & B shells might have even been retrofitted by Rogers or an authorized Rogers dealer.

Extra lug holes aside, I still would love to have this 6.5 wood Dyna.

The snare frame is not original either. It looks like the later big"R" style, still a good looking drum and I bet it sounds good too.

Yeah, I think I'd just leave it alone at this point.
