Vintage Sonor(?) - help ID

Loading...

Hi all - I saw, I thought, I struck! Bought these drums today and would like some help identifying them. They've yet to arrive, but they look like Sonor (to me), late 1960s if I'm reading the catalog right. The shells have a gray painted interior. Lug casings are offset. Missing a few parts here and there - i'm sure that will be a challenge finding parts - but I'm thrilled to get started restoring these.

If anyone is familiar with these, please chime in. I'm assuming that there are no badges as the seller couldn't identify the brand.

Thanks!

-Doug

Those are Star drums. Visually similar, but those are Tama stencils.

Awesome info Floyd. I didn't pay much - good thing.

Are parts readily available (bass claws, tension rods, casings)?

And not that I'm questioning you, just wondering how you easily identified that they are Star's? Thanks!

As Floyd states, Star drums. I had a very similar kit in blue satin flame and they are very good kits. Forum member Ralf has a very good website devoted to Star here

Excellent site Ralf. Thanks for the link Fayray. Interesting, that this will be my third 'Tama' kit, in a manner of speaking. I love my Rockstars!

I'll be sure to post more pics when i get them. And I'm sure I'll have more questions. Will need parts!
